I was approached in 2012 by Equal Omaha to develop a 30-second spot to air on local television the week of Omaha City Council’s vote on a proposed Equal Employment Ordinance.
The ordinance, introduced by council member Ben Gray, would add the LGBT community to the list of protected classes in the workplace as it pertains to public accommodations (restaurants, hotels, etc.). This same council failed to pass a similar ordinance in 2010.
We decided to use time lapse as a method to communicate how under-represented people experience the world moving around them.
The ordinance passed, 4-3.
