Shortly after I joined Union Pacific, I learned about the unfortunate trend of portrait photography on railroad tracks. Taking pictures on train tracks is not only illegal, but it can be deadly as well.
In 2015, I led a campaign to convince photographers and teens that pictures selfies and portrait photography on the tracks is anything but cool.
Videos and messaging were targeted via UP’s social media channels to teens and photographers in the areas where the railroad was experiencing the greatest challenges with trespassing.
The earned media component of this campaign resulted in features with all three of our targeted photography news websites – SLR Lounge, Fstoppers and PetaPixel – and a Nightline ABC story.
